Krista was born at 7:30 PM on July 3rd, 1986 in Santa Ana, California. She went to elementary school
in Anaheim until our family moved to Loomis, CA in 1995. She attended Placer Elementary School and
graduated with the class of 2000. Krista was just beginning her Junior year at Del Oro when she died.

She was in her second year as a member of the Del Oro Marching Band Color Guard. Krista was very
proud of the color guard team. She enjoyed the teamwork and camaraderie, and was picking up the
nuances of being a good leader. She looked forward to her senior year when she would try out for
Guard Captain. She was blossoming, and it was a joy to watch.

Krista was also deeply religious. In her sophomore year she began attending morning seminary with
her sister Sarah, and their friends. They were invited to learn about The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Krista went to seminary at 5:30 AM most school mornings. She made the decision,
and never complained about it. She had chosen to make a major life decision on her own, and we will
always be grateful that she was so wise. Krista’s spirituality and faith gave her an inner strength that
completed her.

Krista was always the gentle one. A quiet introspective little girl who’s favorite place to be was
snuggled up in someone’s lap. She always saw the best in the people she met. It was a natural gift
that her parents grew to trust and admire. Her little giggle grew into a loud laugh that was from the heart
and sincere, and was always accompanied by that beautiful smile. Her sense of humor was mocking
and hit its victim with the power of a feather.

'Daddy you have the body of a god, Buddha IS a god right?' Her humor was honest. She loved to just
laugh and she had so much fun doing it.

But underneath, was a core as solid as granite. Krista was moral, principled, and inherently fair.
Regardless of who you were, if you attempted to compromise her principles she would stand toe to toe
with you and defend them. She stood by her beliefs with strength, wisdom, and conviction that belied
her age. At 16, she was an old soul.

She possessed the power of forgiveness, the strength to see past a person's flaws, the heart to find
good in everybody, and the character to put them to good use.
